Health and Safety Act. In this one
hour webinar, participants will
learn about the roles and
responsibilities for the employer,
supervisor, worker and joint health
and safety committee members. Worker
rights, including the right to
refuse unsafe work, will also be
reviewed.

Workplace Violence Prevention
and Amendments to the OHSA
On June 15, 2010, the Occupational
Health and Safety Act will include
explicit employer responsibilities
to prevent workplace violence,
including harassment and domestic
violence in the workplace. To assist
clients in preparing for the
upcoming changes, OSACH will be
offering webinars on three dates.
This 2 hour webinar, sponsored by
the MoHLTC, will:
• Provide an overview of Bill 168,
as well as outline the elements of
an effective workplace violence
prevention program in
• Provide sample tools and program
elements
• Assist organizations in
understanding how to address
horizontal violence (bullying) and
domestic violence in the workplace

Safety Engineered Medical Sharps
and the New Needle Safety Regulation
The Needle Safety Regulation, passed
in 2007, will be extended to apply
to the broader health sector in
2010. Workplaces such as community
nursing agencies, clinics, public
health units and clinical offices
will be affected by the regulation.
