Drive Alive - Building a Safe Driving Program
Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of fatalities in the health care sector.

If employees are driving for work purposes, then a Safe Driving Program is needed. This document will take you through the steps to develop that program including: establishing senior leadership commitment, reviewing legislative requirements and assessing the five main areas of risk, those being the driver, vehicle, environment, work practices, and materials/people being transported, developing controls, including a Safe Driving Policy, necessary procedures, reporting, inspection and investigation tools, etc., implementing the program, including the preparation of a marketing/communication strategy as well as a training and education component, and selecting indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
