The purpose of this checklist is to give health and community
service organizations an opportunity to review the
characteristics of their health and safety systems and
programs. This is a general assessment tool, not an exhaustive
list. The tool is designed to assist you to proactively
identify and improve gaps in your health and safety program.
OSACH recommends a collaborative approach, with management and
the joint health and safety committee and/or health and safety
representatives participating in the organizational review of
the existing program and systems.
The checklist is divided
into five categories:
- leadership
- hazard identification
- risk management
- knowledge of health and safety
- organizational
safety culture, and
- the health and safety program.
Each
category identifies key elements with a reference to
applicable legislation and standards; OSACH products and
services; and recommendations to comply with each element.
