Educational Sessions
QLFT: Train the Fit Tester - Respiratory Protection Programs and Qualitative Fit Testing (half-day)
This half day workshop (approximately 4 hours) will train participants on the requirements within a respiratory protection program, including the education, knowledge, and skills required to conduct their own qualitative fit testing (QLFT) as outlined in the CSA Standard Z94.4-02.

Infection Control for Caregivers
Designed to provide participants with basic information about infection prevention and control. The course will include an overview of routine practices, additional precautions and modes of transmission of infection. By the end of the day participants will have the knowledge of basic infection prevention and control principles and practices.

Infection Prevention and Control Program Development (half-day)
Based on the OSACH five steps to program development, this session reviews the standards, guidelines and best practices that should be considered when developing an effective infection prevention and control program. The session leads participants through the content necessary to fulfill an organization’s legislative requirements, and provides participants with useful checklists and practical tools for implementing a program.

Infection Prevention and Control: Products and Services related to H1N1 (half-day)
An emergency management plan considers many aspects of an organization’s day-to-day operation. Based on OSACH Health and Safety in Emergency Management: A Guide for the Protection of Community and Health Care Staff, this session explores the elements that employers should consider in emergency planning for infection prevention and control.

Don of a New Day (DVD)
This video provides detailed information about the use and care of different types and levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers in the acute care setting. It is divided into modules to accommodate the needs of any training program, as only the required modules need be viewed. (Member $100 Non-member $300)

Personal Protection Against Infection (DVD)
This video covers the basics of infection control for health care support staff, from modes of transmission to hand washing to the use of personal protective equipment. At just eleven minutes' duration, this will be a comprehensive, comprehensible, and convenient resource that can be used for orientation, lunch 'n learn sessions, or infection control practice reviews. Now available on DVD (Member $100 Non-member $300)

Breathe Safe: Fitting the Right Respirator (DVD)
A comprehensive overview of fit testing and the use of respirators including proper donning, doffing and seal check techniques. There are two complete programs, one covering Qualitative fit testing, the other Quantitative fit testing. This product is recommended for use in conjunction with a complete respiratory protection program. (Member $150 Non-member $400)

OSACH – Respiratory Protection Programs
This document was developed to provide information to health and community care organizations on the legislation and standards regarding respiratory protection and to guide employers in the development and implementation of a successful respiratory protection program against infectious agents. Complements OSACH’s Respiratory Protection Programs training program. (Members $20 Non-members $30)

OSACH – Protecting Health Care Workers from Infection Diseases: A Self-Assessment Tool
This is a self-assessment tool that can be used by health care organizations to identify health and safety strategies that can prevent worker-related adverse outcomes. It provides guidance in the assessment of the infection control training needs of staff and in the review and revision of facility infection control policies and procedures. The self-assessment tool is based on Ontario legislation, Canadian standards and guidelines, and other internationally recognized guidelines (where these offer the latest information and expert opinion) current at the time of release. OSACH – Health & Safety in Emergency Management
This guide has been designed to help you protect your most valuable resource – your staff – in an emergency. Its aim is to help health care and community care organizations build on the programs and standards you may already have in place. With its focus on OSACH’s mandate – the prevention and reduction of workplace injuries, illness and disease – it does not address issues of patient or public safety.
